I walked down the white halls of CWH. My hair in two perfect pigtails. I wore a pink mini skirt and a yellow tube top. I almost fit in with these rich kids.
Back home I lived with my single dad who is at work 24/7. My sister Alex, who spends her time locked up in the bathroom doing who knows what? My brother, Trace who is always going out with his friends and doing things he know he shouldn't do. And my half sister Emily who is five and is growing up in a horrible atmosphere.
During lunch I see Alex and Trace who were standing by the back doors. Alex's white long sleeve shirt was stained with yellow from the mac' and cheese she ate yesterday. Trace gives me a little happy grin when he sees me. He wore a backwards cap, baggy pants and skater shoes. I walk to them, Trace puts his arm around my shoulders and pull me down to give me a nudge. I pushed him away, with my hair now a mess.
This school seriously stinks of stuck up Trace said snorting at the disapproving glares of the rich kids.
I pull a brush out of my purse and undo my pigtails to fix my hair. Alex coughs. Trace grabbed the elastic bands and neatly puts my hair back into pretty piggy-tails.
I don't think CWH is so bad, I mean, yeah some of these kids got attitudes. I point out.
Alex smirks at my comment.
What? I seriously meet some nice kids here I protest.
It was true I looked like them, wearing unwrinkled clothes hair always neat, clean shoes. But I wasn't like them, I lived in a two bedroom apartment in the worst area to live in. Where I walked a block away from the house to pick up some pills Trace got high on. Where I find blood stains in the bathroom sink and a razor covered in blood in the trash can. Where I'm left alone to take care of Emily. I should be more like Trace and Alex, slobs who didn't care any more about how the rest of there lives went. But I didn't want to be caught up in drugs and sorrow, when I was Emily's age I decided I wanted to be the complete udder opposite of what my siblings were. And if you saw Alex and me together you would never guess that we were related or even friends.
Well at least I don't fry my brain cells with pot I shot Trace a death stare.
Ouch I felt that. Trace placed his hand over his heart, That hurt right here.
Alex giggled, I pulled out my lip gloss and applied onto my lips. Trace pushed the back doors open and walked out Alex and me followed him. He walked to the smoke pit which was found at the end corner of the track. He pulled out a pack of cigarette's, took one out and lit it. I coughed at the smoke he puffed out. I could see a few kids from Greats also smoking and a group of six who I think were from CWH. In the group was a boy about my age who was casually inhaling the harmful smoke of his cigarette.
He had sharp brown eyes with speaks of bright green in them. He turned and caught me staring at him, his shaggy brown hair came into perfect curls at the ends, I quickly turned away from him. The end of the day came. The bell rang, I grabbed my book bag and waited for Alex and Trace at the bus stop. Then I saw him again with his friends. He stepped into a white limo. The limo drove past me and he popped his head out the window. His looked at me with his brown and green eyes, and gave me this sad little smile I've ever seen.
Trace pulled out the keys as we walked home from the bus stop we stepped into the elevator with a few other people. Once the elevator stopped on the forth floor we all stepped out. Trace put the key in the door marked 75. Dad was sitting in the kitchen with Emily. Alex searched for something to eat in our empty refrigerator. I leaned in to give my dad a hug, and kisses Emily on the cheek. That night Trace brushed my hair out, and smiled the same sad little smile he gave me when he stuck his head out the limo.
The next day I woke up and got ready for school. Alex and me waited at the bus stop without Trace. He was to hung over to go to school. He had left to a pub with his friends after I had fallen asleep, Alex told me. Alex wore a short sleeved t-shirt which meant she bandaged her whole left arm up to prevent people from seeing the scars running down her arm.
The day passes by quickly, lunch, Alex and me when to 7-eleven. Last period in science class I saw him, he handed a note to the teacher. She nodded and pointed to the empty seat farthest from me. The girl next to him giggled and he winked back at her. Mrs. Killan put us into groups for two projects. One had to do with the buoyancy of objects in water. I ended up with:
Christopher- The very stuck up blond hair boy.
Molly- Black and blue haired, very pervade, bisexual, depressingly quiet girl.
Susanne- Very hyper girly-girl with dyed in blond hair.
Rocky- Skinny, pale, brainy nerd boy (who is disturbingly attractive.)
The first project was very preschool, we had to drop things into water and tell which one floated, sunk, or suspended The we moved onto the human body project, which was cutting open a frog. Which in my option was AWSOME! Susanne threw up all over Christopher after she cut open the frog. Christopher slapped her then dragged her to the nurses office. They both ended up going home (Christopher told the nurse if he didn't get home to change his clothes he would sue Susanne's parents for ruining his expensive clothing).
Rocky, Molly and me were left doing all the work, but Molly was to busy staring at some girls boobs. I slowly pierced the knife into the frogs half cut stomach.
No,no,no, Kimmy your doing it all wrong. Rocky complained with all his nerdy-cuteness.
Well sorry I rolled my eyes and held out the knife to him to take. Instead of taking it he grabbed my hand and lean me into the frogs cut stomach guiding me into the right way. His palms were sweaty which would of grossed me out if it wasn't for his good looks. He let go.
Thats how you do it. He gave me a rude glare, his eyes were a very dark brown. He turned away to write in his notebook.
I finished and I told Molly to put the things away. I went to the sink at the back of the class room to wash my hands. I turned around to walk back to my table but I found him standing behind me. His hands covered in frog slim and blood. I gave him a smile, he gave me his best smile back but I could see the sadness behind it.
Um... well..sorry I'm in your way. I moved to the side to let him wash his hands.
No it's OK He laughed a little. He wiped his hands on his jeans, I'm Blake by the way.
Um... nice to meet you, I'm Kimberly-Anne you can just call me Kimmy.
I didn't see you here last year you from Greats?
Yeah.
Well then welcome to CWH He walked to his table waving to me to follow.
Um... thank you I took a seat next to him.
No prob', hey do you fancy parties?
I guess I do...why?
I donno, do you want to come to my first week of school party?
Wow I just meet him and he's already inviting me to a party.
Sure, I mean where is it?
Boston Pizza, my dad rented the whole restaurant, free food He winked at me.
I couldn't help it he was cute, I giggled.
OK I'll be there
Cool beans, see you there, it's on Friday after school
K' can I bring my sisters and brother?
The more the better He smiled the smile that tore my heart into tiny bits.
